Rod Main Cam
have all new rod and main bearings. reusing rods/rod caps, does the new rod bearings matter where they go?
off a 350 chevy. got the crank grounded 10 under. got the new bearings (rods and main) to match it. About to start the rebuild.
I know the cam bearings had a certain position due to different sizes. but for these bearings, can you just put the new rod bearings on any of the rods since they are brand new and same with the main or do they have to match to certain rods/rod caps? I think you know what i mean. thanks
Ok cool, and yeah I got the crank machined and got that bearings according to that as well. Both 10 under for rod and main as well as the crank so it should all line up. Thanks again!
as long as you got new bearings that are 10 over to compensate for having the crank ground you'll be okay...as far as top and bottom half shells - if all the shells have holes in them it doesn't matter which way you put them. if only half the shells have oil holes, make sure you put the half shell with the hole to match the hole in the rods, otherwise you will block oil flow...i assume you know that the rod caps and main caps are numbered and have to back in the same block web or with the same connecting rod they came off
